Spend time exploring the vast and ever-changing wilderness, where your route is shaped by your captain and expedition leader based on seasonal conditions and wildlife activity. Spend the day discovering sheltered waterways and forested shorelines, with opportunities to walk beneath moss-covered trees or paddle in calm coves. Keep watch for bald eagles overhead and harbour seals along the coast, with the possibility of encountering larger marine wildlife such as orcas and humpback whales in this remote part of Southeast Alaska.

Covering 3.3 million acres, Glacier Bay National Park is an expansive and largely untouched wilderness, offering access to areas few travellers experience. Venture deeper into the park, with opportunities to kayak, travel by skiff, hike along glacial terrain or walk on a moraine. As you explore, keep watch for wildlife including mountain goats, sea lions and puffins, with the chance of spotting whales in these nutrient-rich waters.

Begin the day on deck as your expedition team identifies the best options for exploration based on conditions. A flexible approach allows you to choose how you experience the landscape, with opportunities to kayak, paddle for longer distances, explore on foot, or access remote shoreline by skiff. Throughout the day, your naturalist guides provide insight into the region’s environment, shaping a deeper understanding of Alaska’s coastal wilderness.

Explore the remote coastline of Chichagof Island, an area known for its rich wildlife and opportunities to observe coastal brown bears. Your captain and expedition leader determine the best locations for the day, drawing on local knowledge and current conditions. Activities may include shoreline walks, kayaking and skiff excursions, with opportunities to observe wildlife from a safe distance in this undeveloped part of Southeast Alaska.

Discover the rugged coastline of Baranof Island, including the remote South Baranof Wilderness, where glacial fjords and open coastal landscapes define the terrain. Travel through Peril Strait, a waterway with a rich Indigenous and Russian history, known for its strong currents and seasonal marine activity. The day’s activities are guided by local conditions, with options for kayaking, skiff excursions and walks through forest and coastal environments, including areas where salmon streams support abundant wildlife, offering varied ways to experience this dynamic region.

Travel among the remote islands along the western edge of Baranof Island, where rugged shorelines and sheltered coves create important habitat for seabirds and marine life. Conditions guide the day’s activities, with options for kayaking, snorkelling, skiff excursions and guided walks. Along the shoreline, intertidal zones reveal a diversity of marine species, including sea stars, urchins and kelp. The day concludes with a Captain’s Dinner and a photo presentation from your expedition team.
