Discover Alaska’s untamed southeast on an immersive small-ship expedition designed for those who want to do more than just observe. Travelling aboard an intimate expedition vessel, this journey ventures beyond the reach of larger ships into remote fjords, secluded inlets and wildlife-rich channels. At the heart of the voyage lies Glacier Bay National Park, where towering tidewater glaciers and rarely visited corners of the Outer Bay reveal a quieter, more profound side of this iconic region. Each day brings the opportunity to explore by kayak, zodiac and on foot, with guided hikes through temperate rainforest, shoreline walks and up-close encounters with dramatic landscapes. Wildlife is ever-present, from humpback whales and orcas to bears foraging along the shoreline and eagles soaring overhead. With a flexible itinerary shaped by nature and expert guides, this is a dynamic and highly active expedition that captures the raw beauty and spirit of Alaska.

Trip Code: UNP

Arrive in Juneau, Alaska’s remote capital set between mountains and sea. After boarding your small expedition yacht, meet your crew and fellow travellers before setting sail into the Inside Passage. As you leave port, keep watch for your first glimpses of marine life in these rich coastal waters.

Meals:  D

Explore the historic waterways of Robert and Crow Islands, where remnants of Alaska’s logging past sit among towering old-growth forest. Choose from a range of active excursions including guided hikes, kayaking and skiff exploration, with opportunities to venture deeper into the forest and along the rugged shoreline. Views extend to the Five Fingers Island Lighthouse, adding a sense of place to this remote and characterful region.

Meals:  B,L,D

Cruise through a narrow fjord framed by steep cliffs to reach the remote LeConte Glacier, the southernmost tidewater glacier in the Northern Hemisphere. Inaccessible to larger vessels, this rarely visited corner of Alaska offers a quieter, more intimate glacial experience. Explore the area by zodiac, navigating among drifting icebergs for a closer perspective, or take time to absorb the stillness and scale of this remarkable landscape. Deeply significant to the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian peoples, this is a place of both natural grandeur and cultural importance.

Meals:  B,L,D

Arrive into the striking, glacier-fed waters of Thomas Bay, where misty forested slopes and cascading waterfalls define the landscape. Cascade Creek tumbles dramatically through the rainforest, setting the scene for a day of exploration in one of Southeast Alaska’s most scenic locations. Choose from a range of guided hikes suitable for varying fitness levels, from accessible forest trails to more immersive routes deeper into the wilderness. When conditions allow, take to the water by kayak or paddleboard, exploring the calm, reflective bay at your own pace.

Meals:  B,L,D

Explore the wildlife-rich waters surrounding Kuiu Island, an area known for one of the highest concentrations of black bears in Alaska. As you navigate its ????? bays and inlets, keep watch for bears along the shoreline, as well as sea otters drifting in sheltered waters. This region is also prime habitat for humpback whales, with the chance to witness dramatic feeding behaviour, including bubble-net feeding, when conditions align. Activities today may include guided hikes, kayaking and skiff exploration, with options for more challenging bushwhacks or extended paddling for those seeking a deeper level of adventure. For a truly immersive experience, optional snorkelling offers a unique perspective of Alaska’s cold, nutrient-rich waters, supported by specialised expedition gear.

Meals:  B,L,D

Explore the remote coastline of Chichagof Island, one of the best locations in Southeast Alaska for viewing coastal brown bears. Rich in wildlife and largely untouched, this region offers a true sense of wilderness. With guidance from your captain and expedition team, venture into prime bear habitat using their expert local knowledge. Activities may include shoreline walks, kayaking and zodiac exploration, providing safe opportunities to observe these powerful animals in their natural environment.

Meals:  B,L,D

Venture into the rarely visited Outer Bay of Glacier Bay National Park, a vast and remote region few travellers experience. Far beyond the more frequented areas of the park, this quieter corner offers a deeper sense of scale, solitude and connection to the landscape. Explore by kayak, zodiac or on foot, with opportunities for guided hikes and shoreline walks through untouched wilderness. Wildlife is abundant, with chances to spot Steller sea lions, sea otters and a variety of birdlife throughout the day. Return on board in the evening to reflect on the journey, with a final opportunity to share in the experiences and highlights of the expedition.

Meals:  B,L,D

After breakfast, disembark in Juneau NB* Itineraries are a guideline and are subject to weather conditions, tides and wildlife opportunities. Your expedition leader and captain will keep you informed during the voyage.
