May to October – Maldives Monsoon season

Rain, clouds and stormy weather are more prevalent during the Maldives 'wet' or 'monsoon' season, but it’s far from a washout. Rainfall can sometimes arrive in short, tropical bursts, often followed by extended periods of sunshine, but this varies by region.

With fewer visitors during these wetter months, it can often be more affordable compared to the peak travel seasons. You can still have a fantastic time experiencing the islands, enjoying quieter lagoons and reefs, as well as lush island vegetation.
